DRAKE HORACE Happy 100th Birthday to my dear late friend Horace, who would have celebrated his 100th Birthday on 25th November 2019. Horace lived a magnificent life and his son James has created a website www.horacedrake.com to remember him by. Horace wrote a book called Once Upon a Time in Aberkenfig - this can be found on the website. Andy Murray has kindly given me permission to use the below photo of him with Horace's book. Horace met Gwyneth in 1936 just after Fred Perry won Wimbledon. He asked her to marry him repeatedly over 14 years including in letters written throughout WW2. She held firm until 1950, when they finally tied the knot. In his memoirs he quips: "It might have been a lot worse. She could have said "tell you what Horace, I'll marry you when the next Brit wins the men's Wimbledon title". It would have been a long wait till Andy won it in 2013!
